Enjoy a rejuvenating walk through Wombat State Forest as we guide you on a journey exploring mindfulness.
The tour meets at Wombat Creek Picnic Ground, a short 10 minute drive from the township of Daylesford. We begin with a brief introduction to Mindfulness before heading out to our first destination, Wombat Dam, where we stop for our first meditation session. Gazing out across the water you will be guided through a mindfulness meditation where we will use the senses to fully explore the present world. This calming meditation allows us to tune in to the natural landscapes and check-in with ourselves before the real hike begins. Sitting mats and cushions are provided for the meditations.
After a short discussion the tour continues heading deeper into the forest for our second activity, a game aimed at cultivating curiosity and motivation. Throughout our journey we seek to develop a connection with the forest by tuning in to the present environment. We practice hearing, seeing, reading and sensing the forest in ways that both relax and inspire us.
Following the back-country trails the tour continues through dense woodland before arriving at a clearing for our final meditation. Here we explore concentration and the breath, taking time to enjoy the clean forest air that fills our lungs during a guided breath meditation. From there on, the final section of the hike is completed in silence as we make our way down into a lush ancient valley of Eucalyptus. Arriving back at the picnic ground where we started, we gather together over a light picnic and friendly conversation by Wombat Creek.
The tour is very informative and has been designed to introduce you to a number of different mindfulness practices that you can then use again by yourself in the future. We also offer ideas for practical exercises and activities you can incorporate into your daily lives along the way.
