Tour Description

Enjoy a rejuvenating forest-bathing walk through Wombat State Forest as we guide you on a journey exploring mindfulness.

The tour takes place in the heart of Wombat State Forest, a scenic 20 minute drive from the township of Daylesford. We take you off the beaten track to explore and soak in the true beauty of the forest.

The tour begins with a short 'Introduction to Mindfulness' workshop where we explain the concepts and ideas of mindfulness in a simple and easy to understand manner. You will then be guided through your first mindfulness meditation, where we will tune it to the full soundscape of the forest environment.

From there, we head off for our hike, heading deeper into the forest and stopping along the way to discuss some of the latest scientific research into forest bathing, wellness practices and the benefits of spending time in nature.

At various points along the hike we stop to guide you through different focal points, where we use the forest landscape to practice our mindfulness skills. Throughout our journey we seek to develop a connection with the forest by tuning in to the present environment. We practice hearing, seeing, reading and sensing the forest in ways that both relax and inspire us.

At the halfway point we stop for our second sitting meditation where we explore concentration and the breath, taking time to enjoy the clean forest air that fills our lungs during a guided breath meditation. We also share tips for developing your own meditation practice at home.

Continuing on the journey, we stop for 2 nature engagement activities aimed at cultivating curiosity and connection with the forest. Then the final section of the hike is done in silence, allowing you to soak in the peacefulness of the forest and giving you time to reflect on the ideas from the tour.

Arriving back where we started, we gather together over a light picnic and friendly conversation at our 'Wild Mindfulness camp'. Hot or cold drinks are served depending on the weather,  as well as some individual baked treats from one of Daylesford's best cafes.

The tour is very informative and has been designed to introduce you to a number of different mindfulness practices that you can then use again by yourself in the future. We also offer ideas for practical exercises and activities you can incorporate into your daily lives along the way.

Is this tour for me?
Hopefully! Mindfulness is pretty easy and can be enjoyed by people from all walks of life, however this tour might not be suitable for everyone. Please take into consideration the following:
  • Our meditations are done sitting on the ground, seated on cushions and mats. Ideal posture will be cross legged on a small cushion (that we provide), but there are other options for how you might sit too. Unfortunately there are no chairs available as we will be hiking so please consider this and get in touch if you have any concerns
  • It is advised that people with severe mental health conditions seek advice from their GP or Psychologist before attempting meditation. Please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns regarding this. Meditation and Mindfulness turns your focus inwards, upon yourself, and some may find this unsettling or triggering. For your safety and comfort we may ask some questions regarding this in the booking process.
