Tour Description

This 4 hour workshop and hike offers you a great introduction to mindfulness in the magnificent setting of the Wombat State Forest.  We meet at a small carpark in the forest, and from there set out towards the 'Wild Mindfulness workshop camp', nestled beside a creek in the heart of the forest. The workshop takes around 40 minutes and includes a beginners guided meditation where we will start to tune into the forest to calm and quieten the mind. We will introduce you to the ideas, concepts and practices of mindfulness in a relaxed and engaging manner surrounded by the calming beauty of the forest.

After the workshop, we head out for our 6km hike which takes us on a journey through a variety of forest landscapes. From lush forested gullies to open woodlands, this hiking trail showcases some of the best landscapes in the Wombat Forest.

Along the way we stop for short mindfulness practices where you will be guided to tune into the forest environment through your senses. We practice listening, watching and interacting with the forest in ways that both relax and inspire us. We also include a bunch of interesting information and science as we continue to expand your understanding of mindfulness and eco-therapy along the way.

Our mindfulness practices and activities in the forest are based on nature-connection and forest bathing principals, offering you the opportunity to connect deeper to the natural environments. We like to keep things relaxed, fun and engaging whilst also sharing some new ideas and skills. The final section of the hike is completed in silence, giving you the chance to really enjoy the peace of the forest.

Arriving back at Wild Mindfulness Camp, we gather for an afternoon picnic and friendly conversation. We offer hot or cold drinks depending on the weather, and an assortment of locally baked treats.

Your guide is a trained and accredited meditation teacher with first aid training and extensive outdoor experience. We always carry a full first-aid kit and emergency satellite beacon, so you can be assured that we will keep you safe whilst out in the forest.

Is this tour for me?
Hopefully! Mindfulness is pretty easy and can be enjoyed by people from all walks of life, however this tour might not be suitable for everyone. Please take into consideration the following:
  • Our meditations are done sitting on the ground, seated on cushions and mats. Ideal posture will be cross legged on a small cushion (that we provide), but there are other options for how you might sit too. If you have difficulty sitting on the ground please get in touch with us - we can arrange chairs for the workshop, but not for the stops along the hike.
  • It is advised that people with severe mental health conditions seek advice from their GP or Psychologist before attempting meditation. Please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns regarding this. Meditation and Mindfulness turns your focus inwards, upon yourself, and some may find this unsettling or triggering. For your safety and comfort we may ask some questions regarding this in the booking process.
